well. i dis-like nathanial hawthorne w/ a passion. i read the scarlett letter and barely got through. i vowed never to read anything by him again, but i'm now being forced to read the house of seven gables for english am not even through the 1st chapter and am totally bored. do not know how i will get through the book. but as always am like the only one of my friends who can actually understand what the dude is saying and what he means so must actually read it....i love reading...but....come on....he has got to be one of the most boring writers (no offense to anyone who enjoys hawthorne)

yes. it is all about symbolism. he is saying that women are the root of all evil. he was a v. sexist pig. he loved writing about the salem trials because he liked to critcize what his forefathers had done. oh and mom says shame shame on the swearing on the comp. thing
